Midday painting sessions this week have been saving my life. Nothing like painting for an hour to calm down and really feel present. Anxiety sneaks up on me sometimes and this is my cure.

And nothing more satisfying than the tape pull to really commit to a painting being completed. So satisfying!

This was one of those paintings that I just had to paint. I just love all the colors , the movement of the water and the lone pelican gliding over the water.

Now for the hard part …what do I title this?

I haven’t shared in a long time but I assure you my art studio has been busy. Life has been so busy that sharing my work was one more thing that I just couldn’t get to..doing the art always takes priority.

This afternoon I felt like playing so I brought out some media I have never used before..and well jury is still out but I do like the added texture they give .

Today was a good reminder to myself that it’s ok to create without any intention other than my own enjoyment. Carving out more studio play this year is a must .

Snapped some sweet shots of my violet ornaments. Hand-painted in watercolor, they're a tribute to my grandparents. Violets were always a staple in their dry sink. Not your typical Christmas decor, but I'm an artist and that’s always my excuse for being different. First time making Christmas ornaments and I’m so in love with them.

I absolutely loved painting this Indian River lagoon view . The soft colors of sunrise , mixed in with all the greens of the palms. So peaceful and serene.

First day back to work post flu. Matching my socks was not a priority but picking this commission up from the framer was, I had it professionally matted.
If you have talked to me at all lately you have probably heard about the “big” commission 12x48 😱I’ve been working on.
Here it is!
I love all the blues , the soft drama of the sunrise. And a special element that my sweet client wanted and will mean so much for years to come.
My next commission is on the easel and in the works.
But I wanted to share this beauty one more time . Such feeling I can’t express that people want my work in their homes.

This sweet butterfly spent some time with me and the hydrangeas in the mountains last week.

Since I’ve been back I’ve been working in my sketchbook before working on commissions and I think it’s really helping me find my flow.

“Take me to the Mountains “
Love the way this came out and I think the frame is just perfection.
The mountains are a Floridians sweet escape in the hot sticky months. A place to cool off and just be in nature.
Swim in cold lakes with no alligators or sharks my favorite thing.

A storm on a summers day.
Inspired by the beautiful wild sky after a storm on a hot summer day.
Florida skies my forever obsession.
I finished this painting this week my only large piece of the year. ( broken wrist sidelined me for a while )
This painting helped heal me and my artist soul.

The new year is approaching and my studio is clean and organized ( new year ritual) .
Not into resolutions but I am into reflecting and setting goals for myself. Taking the slow pace of this time of year to set some intentions while I rest and reflect.

This year I want to paint more big pieces , abstracts , play with different modalities , take chances and share my process and work along the way.

One of my favorite people commissioned me to do a moody, abstracted golden hour. I literally jumped at the chance. What was so impressive to me is that she has a whole vision for a gallery wall in her tiny house with all original art and thrifted gems that she has found. What an honor to be amongst them.
Can we talk about this color palette?
It may surprise you that I only used four colors in this painting.
Layers upon layers and hand mixing create those moody darks.
It’s definitely giving the fall vibes. I was so inspired by this piece that I’m actually working on a piece inspired by this a little bigger .

About me

I am a fine artist living on the East Coast of Florida.

My studio is located in my historic Victorian home on the Indian River Lagoon.

A former oil painter, I now work mainly in watercolors, pastels and ink. Making art has always been a big part of my life , creating gives me peace and pause. A time to reflect and meditate. I hope to share some of that zen and inspiration through my work. I find inspiration all around me especially the landscape that surrounds me.

I’m a mom of 2 rescue cats Rocky and George and Finn a rescue dog , my kids.

I picked up gardening during the pandemic and love getting dirty so that I may enjoy all the flowers. My partner is my rock and partner on the porch . Where you will find us most every night enjoying the view and a glass of Pinot Noir with

our 90lb husky/shepard mix Finn.

One of the most important lessons I have learned in this crazy life is that slowing down and really taking in the moment is key to happiness. Painting is a way for me to truly be still and present. Art has always been a big part of my life. Sharing it is new and a bit scary!
